BATHURST YULEFEST

Recently six members of the Lane Cove Probus club enjoyed a July Yulefest trip to Bathurst hosted by On Course Tours and Travel. We travelled in a very comfortable coach with folk from other PROBUS Clubs, including West Ryde, Carlingford & Dee Why. Morning tea was enjoyed at a very brisk Mount Tomah before we headed off to Bathurst for lunch at the very warm St George Hotel. The afternoon was sunny but cool and we enjoyed a visit to the historic home of the former Prime Minister Ben Chifley. Next on the agenda was a hot lap of Mount Panorama at the sedate speed of 15 km an hour before checking in into Rydges Hotel overlooking the track. A quick change of outfit, a hurried ‘Happy Hour’ tipple and onto the Yulefest Dinner!

QVB GUIDED TOUR

Lane Cove Probus Members recently took part in a QVB History Tour. The Tour took us on a journey to uncover a story of resilience, culture, and progress as we explored one of Sydney's most iconic historical buildings. Built in 1898 as a monument to the long reigning monarch, we learnt about the Queen Victoria Building's creation, near destruction and modern-day preservation from our expert guides, Jennifer & Elizabeth.
On this 45 min walking tour, we discovered elaborate Romanesque architectural features including glorious stained-glass windows, magnificent atriums, and the mighty centre dome, whilst exploring the inside and outside of the building.
Following the Tour, 15 members enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch at ‘Primi’ located in Club York. A thoroughly enjoyable day out.
